I’m not ready to die, said Bill:
I have so much to do,
I have my yacht to sail
And to do some travelling too.
I am sorry Bill the big man said, with a gentle smile.
Come sit with me & rest your bones
And we’ll watch the world sail by
Bill Byford, obituary in the Dominion Post today.
Bye Bill. Lots of love Jan, and family. From Janie and Dean, and Pebbles.

Hello, I as searching for the media cast of the Trans Tasman Crossing triumph when
my Dad – Bill and Duthie sailed from New Plymouth to Australia (Maloolaba) and found
this page. It is great to meet you and I am glad that you are sailing her well. It was my job
to speak of Dad’s adventures during his life time and this gave me an opp to speak about
the sailing adventures and also the adventures I sailed with him. I was fortunate to bring
Pebble Rebel back to NZ, with Dad and 2 others and also sail the final leg of the South Island circumnavigation, to be Dads last voyage. May the legend live on, Ann Byford, Hamilton.

Hi Ann. Thank you for your lovely post. It’s awesome to hear from you. You are very, very welcome to come and visit us and Pebbles any time you’re down this way. Your Dad and Jan’s story inspired us to buy the boat when we did. We adore Pebbles, and hope Bill knew what an incredible lifetime of adventures he’s given us. Happy adventures to you. Janie.

A lovely lament for a passionate sailing man. He would have been pleased to see how well she has been looked after and her successful cruising career so far.
R.I.P Bill
