Zena the duck (how rehoming your dog is hard)

Meet Zena the duck.

Harris Bay, Kawau Island. Our resident ducks. One is called Zena. Actually every animal I see is called Zena, after our beautiful golden lab, Zena, who we have temporarily rehomed to the Coffee family. The seagull on our dinghy at Rangitoto Island was called Zena. The takahe bubby on Tiritiri Matenga was called Zena. The wasp who tried to sting me this morning was not. We know Zena is happy with her new family but it’s still hard. Woofie woof.

I really don,t know that Zena dog would altogether appreciate that her memory is kept alive by seagulls and ducks etc..She would be saying woof woof to them and chasing them away. Kawhau Island how great hope you are enjoying and going ashore for walking recreation. I have a chest infection again so am feeling miserable. Sent the children home yesterday a bit earlier than planned but necessary. Kyle is still sore but managing to shuffle around like an old man with a zimmer frame but minus the frame. Hope the weather is being kind to you have fun Mum Alison.

Having recently become the besotted owner of an incredibly cute family puppy with one broken leg, I hear your love and anxiety loud and clear Janie and well Zena is just simply SPECIAL.

I can only say.. you could see this as ‘treatment’ for both of your severe cases of “Separation Anxiety” lol and I think you will both be happily cured on your return πŸ™‚

Oh you are so right! But I do plan to reconnect with my separation for Zena when I get back. She is very loved while we are gone. She’s getting much loved by the Coffeey family, and she’s still seeing her favourite Aunties, Lindsay and Corrin. But it’s still bloody hard. As you know, your heart gets ripped out when you have a bubby doggy! Hope Ruby is healing well. Xox
